SERPENT & THE SWAN

Last week I had the pleasure of visiting the Bespoke PR showroom to hang out with Lee and Yan (some of the raddest chicks around town) and to view the latest collections in the showroom. One that particularly caught my eye was from the Sydney label Serpent & The Swan - think bronzed jewellery, strategic cut outs, creepy dolls hands and just the right amount of leather. Not only do the sisters behind the brand create extremely covetable accessories, but they also produce clothing for both men and women. Forgive me for saying this (I've been spending way too much time on the Northern Beaches), but I was frothing. One day that choker made from tiny bronze bones (pictured first) will be mine.

In between retouching sessions while assisting Candice Lake at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, I managed to squeeze in the time to shoot backstage at two of my favourite designer's shows - Michael Lo Sordo and Sara Phillips. These are just a selection of photographs that I managed to get just before Michael's show, which was held off-site at The Apollo. The collection was stunning and almost otherworldly, featuring foiled metallic blues and mirrored digital prints. I'll hopefully post more photos from the show in the next few days but make sure you check out what it is I'm actually raving about on Moda Operandi

A short time ago I was asked to take part in an exciting new collaboration between bloggers and retail giant, Trade Secret. With the opportunity to style my own outfit and get dressed up for the day, I naturally jumped on board. Most of you know by now that I do love to lust over ridiculously expensive items from time-to-time, but when it really comes down to it, I'm a serious bargain hunter. No shame here, I'll trawl websites and stores until I find myself the best deal. So unless you've been living under a rock, you're probably well aware that Trade Secret is up to 60% off the other stores prices, stocks both designer & local brands and is all current season stock. Just to put it into perspective for you, the outfit pictured above only comes to a grand total of $115. Well, $114.85 to be exact. And no, I have not left out any digits. The reason being is that their buyers travel the globe in order to deal with designers and brands directly, simply so they can source out the best deal and pass on those savings. Winner, winner, chicken dinner! Don't forget to check out the film  below made by James Chappell featuring a cute song titled Do You Hear by Cub Scouts.

Just before the madness of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week began, I was kindly invited along to view the new collections dropping into one of my favourite online stores, Shopbop.com. With more Alexander Wang/3.1 Phillip Lim/Alice + Olivia goodness than you could poke a stick at, it was kind of like being in retail heaven. You may  have noticed that the site has been ever so slightly upgraded to include some new features, some of which are the boutiques (my favourites being One By and the Designer). With so much stock available on the site, it's certainly nice to be able to have some things broken down into perfectly curated categories and it certainly saves a lot of time. Having said that though, I'd happily browse the site for hours on end. I'm not going to lie, I actually frequently do.
P.s My absence from the blog can be explained and it's a pretty darn good excuse as well! During both MBFWA and the following week, I had the absolute privilege of working as the assistant of Candice Lake. Yes, the Candice Lake. I have great news for you all, she is more incredible and even more lovely than you could ever imagine. I'll be posting more about that later, including a few shots I took of her during Fashion Week!
