Well this is just awkward now isn't it? The day I decide to whip out my skateboard and show you all my sweet as moves, is the day after Rumi Neely gets all cute with a deck slung under one arm. I mean, you just can't compete with a babe like that. Of course it definitely didn't stop me from trying though. With spring slowly making it's way to the Southern Hemisphere (33 days guys! It's not like I'm counting or anything), I thought it'd be a great time to start road testing my new Suped Up Slashers. Conveniently, MINK PINK are currently running a new competition on their Facebook that simply requires you to get your DIY freak on some denim shorts. I know what you're thinking and yes, what a lovely coincidence! With a $1000 wardrobe up for grabs, you'd actually be crazy not to enter. Because I'm all about minimalism (read: I'm lazy) I decided a good old dip-dye was in order for mine, but feel free to go all out on yours with glitter, studs, lace, etc, etc. Good luck y'all!

This picture was an outtake from a shoot I did for a new online store, Basically Boutique. I was fortunate enough to photograph Teresa Oman, an absolute natural and one of the best models I've worked with to date. The fact that she's a massive babe is simply an added bonus. I also have to say props to Hair & Makeup Artist, Megan Harrison, for creating the most enviable topknot I've ever seen. Seriously guys, I was in awe. I'll be posting some more pictures from the day soon so definitely stay tuned!

JOVEEBA - GIVEAWAY

Not too long ago I was asked to capture some Behind The Scenes action at the Joveeba Spring 2012 collection shoot, titled 'I Walk For Me'. Afterwards, the lovely team sent me two of the cutest friendship bracelets (pictured above), one to add to my arm swag and another to give away on the blog! Heck yeah, free stuff for you guys. All you need to do to enter is leave a comment below with your full name, your email and a short description of your ultimate arm party. Simple as that mis amigos! When Helen Lee of Sassybella.com discovered that I hadn't had a haircut since the year 2009, her face depicted what could only be described as pure horror. After explaining to her that it had been a disastrous experience right before my year 12 formal that had deterred me from going back (note the uneven length in the before shot), she decided to make it her mission to get me a haircut, and one that I would love. Fortunately for me, Helen knew of just the place and the miracle worker to do it - Barney Martin. I'm not going to lie, that man is a genius. Plus he has an incredible English accent (massive bonus). PALM BEACH COLLECTION

Let it be said now that I like to collect things. Candles are certainly no exception to that. I have a full-blown assortment of melts, tea lights, sticks, pillars and even a diffuser or two. If you couldn't already tell, I love to surround myself with beautiful scents, so when I stumbled across Palm Beach Collection while interning, I kind of fell in love. With a Lemongrass candle already in my possession, I'm thinking of expanding my ever-growing collection with the addition of a Blood Orange or a Wild Peony. Heck, I'll probably end up getting both. With the launch of their e-boutique coming up over the next few days, I decided to interview the siblings (Kirsten and Mike) behind the label to get a better insight into their lives and their product. 

What was it that inspired you both to start up Palm Beach Collection four years ago?

We are so inspired by the area that we grew up in and the lifestyle we both love and enjoy. It was such a gift to have the opportunity to work with family, it has brought us closer together.

Describe Palm Beach Collection in 25 words or less.

Palm Beach Collection is created with love. We are a family team that had a dream of working together and we made it real. Our collection reflects just that.

How do you come up with each scent combination for your candles and diffusers, and which is your favourite?

We have travelled extensively around the world and have given ourselves the opportunity to experience different trends in fragrance. We use our ideas to bring together simple and enjoyable scents that reflect our surroundings like my favourite candle “White Rose & Jasmine”. I remember mum having jasmine in our yard when we were growing up and smelling grandma’s rose garden, I never forgot these things. We use fragrance to inspire memories and experiences, everyone has their own and that is what makes it so special. 

What are your candles made from and roughly how long is the process of creation?

Our candles are made from eco-friendly Soy wax and natural oils, these are hand poured, cooled and then packaged. We pour our candles in fragrance groups that take roughly 1 hour.

And finally, tell me where you’d love to see yourself and the brand in the next five years?

Wow, looking at how far we have come in the past few years it is hard to tell where we will be. We would love to be established in EU, Asia and USA. Representing Australian made products in the international market would be fantastic. We would love to take our online store to an international level as well.
